Instructions for Use
- โSpray the following amount into each nostril.
| Age | Dose per use | Times per day |
|---|---|---|
| Adults (15 years and older) | 2 sprays into each nostril | Once daily |
| Under 15 years | Do not use | โ |
- โThis product contains mometasone furoate hydrate (a steroid). Using too much or using it the wrong way can make side effects more likely, so follow the directions strictly.
- โFor use in the nose only.
- โIf you taste the medicine during use, rinse your mouth.
- โHow to use: (1) Blow your nose to clear it. (2) Shake the container well, then pull the cap straight up (do not twist the cap). (3) Hold the container firmly. The first time you use it, press the pump about 10 times until a fine mist comes out. (4) Tilt your head slightly forward, put the tip of the nozzle into the nostril, and spray once into each nostril. (5) Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, so the medicine reaches deep inside. (6) Spray once more into each nostril. (7) Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth again. (8) After use, wipe the part that touches your nose to keep it clean, then put the cap back on.
- โBe careful not to let the tip of the container touch nasal discharge, as this can contaminate the medicine.
- โInsert the nozzle straight into the nostril and spray so that it does not point toward the nasal septum (the wall that divides the inside of the nose into left and right). Right-handed people tend to point it toward the right nasal septum, and left-handed people toward the left, so be careful.
- โNever poke the tip of the nozzle with a needle or similar object. It is very dangerous if it breaks.
- โDo not use this product if you:
- (1) Have ever had an allergic reaction to this product or any of its ingredients.
- (2) Are under 15 years of age.
- (3) Are pregnant or possibly pregnant.
- (4) Have pus collecting inside the nose (with pain and swelling), an ulcer or an injury inside the nose, or a nasal surgery site that has not fully healed.
- (5) Have been diagnosed with any of the following: systemic fungal infection, tuberculosis, an infectious disease, herpes simplex of the eye, or recurrent nosebleeds.
- (6) Have used a steroid nasal spray for 3 months or more in the past year.
- โDo not use this product for more than 3 months in 1 year, counting any use of other steroid nasal sprays. (If you need to use it for more than 3 months, another condition may be present, so consult an ear, nose, and throat specialist.)
- โDo not use this product together with other steroid nasal sprays. However, if a doctor has prescribed them, follow the doctor's instructions.
- โSeek immediate medical attention if any of the following serious symptoms appear:
- โข Shock (anaphylaxis): Itching of skin, hives, hoarseness, sneezing, itchy throat, difficulty breathing, palpitations, or clouded consciousness immediately after use.
- โ Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you:
- (1) Are under medical treatment.
- (2) Are breastfeeding.
- (3) Are elderly.
- (4) Have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.
- (5) Have any of the following symptoms: pain in the head, forehead, or cheeks, or yellow or green nasal discharge (infectious sinusitis); a heavy feeling around the nose, or a small amount of mucus-like or yellow or green nasal discharge (hypertrophic rhinitis); or nasal congestion, a nasal voice, or a feeling of something in the back of the nose (nasal polyps).
- (6) Are receiving desensitization therapy or other allergy treatment.
- (7) Are receiving long-term or high-dose systemic steroid therapy.
- (8) Are not sure whether your symptoms are caused by seasonal allergy or by something else.
- โStop use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist โ bringing this package insert with you โ if any of the following appear after use, as they may be side effects:
- Nose: Irritation, itching, dryness, pain, redness, discomfort, nosebleed, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, abnormal sense of smell, crusts inside the nose, or a burning feeling
- Throat: Irritation, pain, discomfort, dryness, or swelling
- Skin: Rash
- Nervous system: Headache or fatigue
- Respiratory: Cough
- Eyes: Increased eye pressure (with symptoms such as eye pain, difficulty seeing, or headache), blurred vision, reduced vision, or objects looking distorted
- Other: Abnormal taste
- โNosebleeds can also happen when you blow your nose hard. But if nosebleeds happen often, or crusts form inside the nose, this may progress to nasal septum perforation (a hole in the wall that divides the inside of the nose into left and right). Stop use immediately and see a doctor.
- โStop use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist โ bringing this package insert with you โ if pain in the head, forehead, or cheeks, or yellow or green nasal discharge appears after use. (Another condition may have developed at the same time.)
- โStop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist โ bringing this package insert with you โ if symptoms do not improve after about 1 week of use.
- โStore with the cap on in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not transfer to another container (this can cause mistaken use or affect quality). Do not share with others. Do not use after the expiry date. Even within the expiry date, use as soon as possible after opening.
